I wake up screaming “My son is dead!”

Or was I just screaming inside my head?

I try to keep my thoughts bottled up inside

Because no one wants to talk about my son that died.

I watched you suffer day after day

And I knew in my heart that you could not stay,

But you are my son and I am your mother

And that alone is a love like no other.

I still get up day after day

And do whatever it takes to make time pass away.

But I know, and I hope it’s not long

That God will also call me home

And what a day that will be

When I see your smiling face just smiling at me.

We love you, Michael, and miss you so much.
