Eight Years of Support
On May 3, 2008, co-founders Debra Reagan and Katie Helms, believed
there was a need for community support among bereaved mothers. They had an idea to host a brunch for a small group of moms, who all agreed they should continue to gather on a regular basis. From those beginnings, with the first official gathering on October 4, 2008, groups of moms gathered in Knoxville, then Morristown, and most recently in Harriman to support each other. Although we wish there was not a need for gatherings such as ours, Listening Hearts provides a safe shelter based on core values of:
- compassionate understanding,
- hope for the future,
- empathy through similar experiences,
- nonjudgmental respect,
- lifelong support and encouragement; and
- open communication through shared feelings
Calls to Action

Journey Sisters
If you are further along, we hope you will help us reach back to the moms just beginning their journey. Sign up to attend one gathering (two hours) by e-mailing us and indicate the month and location you will attend. That’s it! We’ll remind you the week before the gathering.

This year’s butterfly release and picnic was held on September 20, at Concord Park. Moms and their families and friends gathered for fellowship, support, and a delicious lunch, catered by Boogie’s Bodacious Bar-B-Q.
